In this simple exercise, you will explore the use of Conte crayon sticks to see how various marks, lines, and tones can be created. This type of control exercise will help you develop the various drawing skills needed to expand your mark making vocabulary.

Materials: black and sanguine Conte crayon, 18 x 24" drawing paper.

Try to re-create the exercise sample below and when you have accomplished re-creating it successfully, explore another set of marks and blends that are different and unique to help expand your mark making vocabulary/language.
